In Honor of My Father

My brother just sent me a video that he has produced, along with a very talented documentary team, in honor of our Dad, Dr. H. Donald Dale.  I want to share this short (six and a half minute) video with all of you who honor me by being interested in things that I blog about.  Here is the link if you want to skip straight to the video.

As the third generation of Dale’s who chose to be doctors, I guess I am particularly drawn to the family legacy in the area of health.  My Grandfather on my Dad’s side was a missionary doctor in China and then in Africa.  My Dad followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming a doctor in China and then Taiwan.  And the wander lust has followed as I then became a family doctor, practicing first in England, and then immigrating to the United States, where my path has led me into medical economics and the politics of transformation in a health system that has become destabilizing to the whole country because of its cost.  With my own (3rd) son now nearing the end of his training as an ENT Surgeon (Ear, Nose and Throat), this will be the fourth generations of doctors Dale!

The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 13:22 that “a wise man lays up an inheritance to his children’s children.” In this video about my family, that I encourage you to watch, this legacy actually began with my Great-Grandfather.  Not another doctor, but the first of the missionary line in the family.  And his legacy can now be traced as touching huge numbers all over the world.  The video has already been watched by over 300,000.  I trust that it blesses you as much as the feedback coming from it has been blessing us.  Here is the link again to the video.  Enjoy!
